So if the dipstick has a grey tip it is probably OK?

Went to dealer and got my new dip-stick.

It has the grey colored end and looks just like the original.

Service Manager (who I know well) stated that the original ones break all the time and even asked if it was my handle that broke off from the metal dip-stick itself (in case I needed them to fish it out of the "tube"?

I guess heat just dries out the plastic and it either cracks and breaks or the plastic and metal part of the dip-stick just seperates.

Oh well... I now have a new, nice, shiny and straight grey tipped dip-stick.
