any of you guys experienced this? i cant get the hitch off. its like rusted in. i was thinking of putting some kind of release lube- squirt it in while i park on a steep hill. let it sit and tie my tow strap around an oak tree and try pulling it free. what would you do? thanks
Chains or ropes will only bind it and make it worse..
Get a can of PB blaster, soak all of the inside of it pretty good.
Have a cold adult beverage and gently tap it on all sides and you will hear a different sound and it will begin to come out and repeat as necessary and when your done have another cold adult beverage
Take your time an all it needs is some light taps and when you get it out, I will let you pass me a cold one

Bah...just make sure the chain/rope is hooked to the tree (or whatever) completely horizontal to the hitch (not above or below the hitch). It will pop right out.
Spray the hell out of it with wd-40 and let it sit for a while, then smack it with a sledge hammer if you dont have a heavy hammer another way is to back up to a light pole that has a concrete base (they are easily found in most large parking lots). I just backed up until the hitch touched the pole then pulled forward about an inch or two put the truck in reverse and let it idle back.
just leave it in ... its a good way to keep small cars off ur butt on the road unless they have a good deal on a radiator
I used to think that until I was out testing my 4WD and as I was traversing a small ditch my truck came to an abrupt halt as the hitch comenced to plant itself 3" deep into the dirt leaving the axle just high enough that it couldnt be reached with a jack. So from now on I keep it under the back seat.
I would just hook a strap(not chain) and yank it out, and maybe heat it up a little with a torch. If you get it out make sure you take precautions so that it dont happen again. Every oil change, maybe while the oil is draining, pull the hitch out and oil/grease it. I do this and never have problems, but if you go through alot of high water you might want to do it more often.

Hammer on it if you want, but don't heat it. A lot of that stuff is heat treated...........Sometimes if you give it a couple light whacks IN (with the pin out), it will loosen it enough you can work it out. The oil helps.
Mine Did that once i put chain on it and around a tree tugged abit then left the truck in drive (big block bout 6 inched in front of the wheels so it wont run away) then smacked up down left right repeatedly til it came out afterards clean the reciever out with a flat scraping tool and wire brush the draw bar down good keep draw bar out when not in use and get a cover for reciever hole no prob since
