Are you supposed to do this?

I have seen about 5 trucks with the drop hitch extender upside down. As in it raises the hitch. I even saw a guy towing a trailer like this on a 4x4 f150 and was that trailer slanted. This is starting to bug me quite a bit as i keep seeing it.

I also saw one on a e series but it was there to raise the hitch as those things sit quite low and seemed to work fine.

On my last two F350 work trucks I used the hitch upside down so my trailers would ride level. The trucks where very loaded very heavy 24/7 so the rear end was always down on the overloads.

That makes sense. The problem i see is a f150 with a light utility trailer. That thing was far from level.

Those drop hitches are designed to be used upside down if necessary. I think they say the amount of drop and the amount of elevation on the tag when you buy them. I had to use one that way on my S10.

Now, whoever uses the hitch to intentionally unlevel their trailer is a special kind of stupid . . .

I used one upside down to level the pop up camper we had, once I had raised the clearance on the camper about 6 inches. The hitch will work in either orientation.

Yup, like everyone else has said, use the receiver either way to make the trailer level, not make it slant.
