99-03's can do it because they have the digital odometer. I did it and works.

There is a plenum at the intake coolant crossover where you can install a sensor and run your wires to the gauge. If you look above the alternator you can see it beside the thermostat.
yes i did. my description is of how i did it. pics i dont have. sure thought i took some. anyway, i can pull the air intake tomorrow evening and give some pics of it finished. and can lay out the tools i used if it will help.
The head temp does not vary as quickly as the coolant does, this is why the temp gauge doesn't move alot. My scanner shows my coolant temp around 194 at operating temp.
My 01 has an aluminum coolant crossover, not plastic.
well i tried the thing with the reset button. This morning it was 9 degrees F out, i scrolled through all the test things and it didnt say temp, so i went back and saw DEG, and it was at 6C, meaning 6 degrees Celsius. well i got to school and it said 89C, so i think thats 192 degrees F? that sound right?
to bad i couldnt keep that temp thing up while the truck is running.
and does anyone know what all those other things are for? i saw something that said oil-155, batt-i forgot wat that said, tach, and a long list of other stuff, whats it all for?
and pictures would be great if you could....thanks alot guys

so this is the only temp reading you can get with a guage?

The CHT has a completely different behavour than coolant. Actually is more important to engine life than coolant, but also takes more engine knowledge to read the values.
To correct a misconception, the CHT rises more quickly on instant load than the coolant. (closer to the fire so to speak) But the numbers change less given the scale of the range. Regardless, it is proven that if the gauge moves there is an influx to the dealer to have it "fixed".
Interesting to note that the engine coolant can change 65 degrees. and the CHT doesn't move. It may be worth noting that if you notice the gauge has moved up from "norm" for CHT, the engine coolant is well north of 240 degrees.
Hey guys, I am not meaning to be argumentive here. Do not want my posts to come across as such. One of the things I really like about this forum is the focus on the subject and the sharing of good information.
I am interested in learning more aout the "reset" feature mentioned. Does someone have a list of the display items? My brother has a 2000 I want to share this with and am hopin gthere is oil, IAT, and tranny temp on the list as well.
