I would think that would be the case.

Yes, I would say that the injectors are the problem. Is swapping in 19 lb injectors an option?

i don't have any 19lb injectors, would finding an ECU to work be more of an issue than getting 19lb injectors? is there any way to decode what ecu i would need? I know it needs to be SEFI and for 14lb injectors, does such a beast exist?

edit: are 19lb injectors stock on the 5.8L?
i'm getting the run around on the ecu's i need a part number or they won't even try to find one.

You could try a fuel pressure regulator off a 4.9 engine. May do the same thing.

19 lb/hr are stock on the truck 5.8, yes. The 4.9L pressure regulator would put the fuel pressure up to around 55 or 60, so that may be an easier work-around than trying to find a different ecu.

what year FPR from a 4.9L the 93 one i have is completely diff bolt pattern. I can re work it to make it work but is there a bolt up version? i'll try using my adjustable regulator first with a pressure gage before i start hacking up the 4.9 regulator.

The only reason I said 4.9 is that I did not know you had an adjustable regulator. You should start with what ever pressure the car should have had, look it up and start from there and add a little pressure each time until it runs OK.
I did know they had a different bolt pattern.

Welp, installed the adjustable FPR and the fuel pressure gage, cycled the key a few times, the pressure seemed to hit a max of 30 psi and rapidly dropped to 0. I think I found the problem, injectors are leaking down and not holding pressure.

besides the injectors, i'm having a hard time figuring out what the fuel injection firing order is in the ecu, i know that the engine is a standard 302 (non HO) is there a way to see if the ecu i have is HO or not?

the 14 lb injectors were the culprit, the 19lber's did the trick.
