What does Ford use for the cold start set up on a 1991 4.9 6cyl. Is it the by pass valve on the throttle body or something else. Any help is appreciated. Thanx, Fitty
Nevermind the EGR. Only time it's open is cruising speed, light - mid throttle, vehicle moving. It's closed during idle, hot or cold, and at WOT, hot or cold, and always CLOSED below operating temp around 160.
IAC is opened up more for higher idle speed, fuel enriched until some temperature (heavily debated), and timing advanced for quicker warmup above idle, and retarded some for smoother idle. All kinds of things going on behind the scenes on a cold engine.
