does anyone know?

i have a 93 ford f-350 7.3 non turbo crew cab 4x4. right now it is an automatic but i want to switch it over to a manual tranny... i have been looking at the newer ford 6 speed manual tranny's. my question is this, does anyone know if the newer superduty tranny's will fit or how much modifying will have to be done to stick one in the old 7.3? any help with this would be great thanks...

No the newer ones have a different bellhousing, although you might be able to buy an adapter plate... Such things do exist for some Dodge transmissions and such.

Not sure... But if you're looking for cheap I'd look elsewhere than the 6-speed ZF... That is a HIGHLY coveted transmission and comes at a high price

well i dont mean cheap cheap, i am just taalking less then the new 50,000 price tags. i got my truck for 4000. i love the older square body style and figure put the manual tranny in and a banks kit and some additional stuff to make it look nicer and still be into it for under 15 grand it wont be too bad

You might go check out the 94.5-97 Powerstroke forum, there has been discussion about swapping a ZF-5 to a ZF-6, and there are a lot of very knowledgeable folks in there when it comes to diesels (not to say Skandocious doesn't know what he's talking about LOL). I do recall hearing something that the ZF-6 has an external trans cooler that is a necessary part, you may want to keep that in mind.

If I remember correctly, that trans cooler for the ZF is going to be mounted on one of the PTOs and will be mechanically driven by the tranny...

alright another question. breaks. i have replaced about everything on the truck as far as breaks, replaced... the master cylinder (twice) the vaccume booster, the rabs valve (small box on inside frame rail front driver side) all new back break components... and the peddle still looses preassure when you push on it. i am baffled on it... any more tips would help thanks

Did you properly bleed your brakes? Could be air in the lines. Also make sure that your rear shoes are adjusted properly via the star wheel on the inside. They should be JUST tight enough that they can drag a free spinning wheel gradually to a stop relatively quickly.

yes, blead the master cylender and all the lines about 45 times and adjusted the rear breaks. got a head scratcher on the breaks. they work fine just bleed out when you hold firm preassure on them for a few seconds...

What about the non-metal rubber lines connecting to the caliper? Could they be expanding?
