First of all I want to thank you for taking the time in helping me sort this out.
Yes, the wire in the photo appears to be the one I am inquiring about.
Is this wire labeled " DO NOT CUT OR SPLICE"?
I found a 1979 truck at the salvage yard. I spliced/crimpped this wire to my existing harness (about 4" ).
The truck starts etc. but the wire in question feels warm to the touch when truck is running.
Is this safe? If not, what are my options?

I have not driven the truck yet, but I have let it idle to normal operating temperature. The wire feels warm to the touch, but as soon as I turn the ignition off it cools down.
If the wire insulation were to "burn" would it have done so already?
