<TABLE><TBODY><TR><TD vAlign=top width="100%">I need help!
I was trying to install aftermarket power windows, and in doing so I did not realize that I had "spliced" into the Resistor wire that runs from my ignition switch to my control module.
I ended up ruining the insulation from the ignition terminal to where I had the splice (about 1.5" in length).
I did not realize till after I made the mistake that this particular wire (red/green) was labeled " DO NOT CUT OR SPLICE".
What is the best way to remedy the situation? I can not seem to find anywhere that carries this type of wire and i sure don't want to re-wire the entire truck!
I hope someone out there has run accross this and can help.
Thank you in advance.

I found the reistor wire at a salvage yard off a 1978/1979 ford pickup.
I went ahead and crimpped/spliced in a piece of about 4.5".
The truck seems to be starting and operating fine except that said wire is warm to the touch!!!!
Is this normal? Is this safe?
Yes it will get warm. Just so long as it doesn't get hot enough to melt the insulation, you are ok. Most all factory stock vehicles had a resistance wire up into the late 80's.
