Anyone using a Comp Cams RV cam?

I would like to hear some opinions from anyone using a Competition Cams replacement. In particular, what's your mileage like with the #260H grind and can you maintain highway speed going up a long grade? What are the emmisions like? High?
I figure I'm going to keep the stock fuel system for now (19# injectors will come later). BUT, while I'm going to the trouble of putting in a new motor, I figure it's a little easier to justify (read "slip in") extra expenses (like balancing the crank assembly)and not raise warning flags with SHMBO! I'm still trying to figure out how to send the intake and exhaust manifolds with the head to ExtrudeHone without raising suspicion.....this will require some thought.....and some cash.......

1990 4.9L 2wd 5spd
Gibson exhaust (motor back) AWESOME power gains!!!
K&N kit
31" Bridgestone's
SSB's rear disc brakes
3.73's
50 gal fuel tank (as far as my bladder will take me!)

SHMBO??
Must be a California thing. Here is south Texas we've got guns for vermin like that!!!HAHAHA!!!
Now seriously, the EFI intake is a little small, but not that bad. If you insist on opening it up, only send the intake. The reason is cost, those boys are not cheap, and the intake is the only part that a regular head shop can'nt port. For the exhaust, a good set of ceramic coated headers will get you good looks, more HP, and cost about the same.
Consider this, to get really good torque you need a high lift, short duration cam, decent (9-1) compression, and high intake velocity with little overlap.
So lets play with that motor for a moment.
compresion: Well its going to the shop so make sure your pistons have a D shaped dish, and that the block is decked properly to maintain a good QUENCH area, the Brits call it Mechanical Octain.
Head Work: Very important, it can't be stressed enough. All the potential of the engine is in the heads! Some may argue, but it's true. Take a head to a good head porting shop and have him do a few things.
1. Larger valves, nothing but good with 1.94 and 1.60
2. Open up and blend the bowel area under the valves.
3. Port match the intake port to the intake (not always the gasket), it needs to be cleaned up and smoothed out. Think hi-speed flow not volume.
4. The next thing I would have my head shop due is machine the rocker bosses to work with Chevy inline six rockers (194-292) not the Ford. The Chevy rockers are 1.75-1 and the Ford are
1.6-1, This is important since you want max lift with minimum duration. CHECK YOUR PISTON TO VALVE CLEARANCE !!!!!
Utilizing the Chevy six (not BBC to short) rockers is a little expensive, but cheaper than a hyd-roller cam and is very effective.
Have we killed your emitions? No, not at all. Your cam selection will decide that. Just remember, minimum overlap, and wider lobe seperation (113-114degees) will help.

Go SHRED some tires.
