Today I got another quote to JUST paint the two loose front 92 F250 fenders....Would you believe $400??????????
Scuff and paint is all I want as one fender is brand new and the other one is totally mint though used. This seems pretty expensive for $80/$100 worth of paint, no masking and maybe all of two hours labour unless I`m missing something here.
That`s the second quote, the first one was for $450!

Maaco was no better as two years ago I got a quote, though sight unseen, for $400 for paint ONLY with no body work of any kind on my 72 F350 hood if I brought it in loose. I ended up buying a 71 F100 parts truck for $400 that had a very nice matching red hood.
And to think, there is 25 yellow pages of autobody shop advertizing in Saskatoon.....
Every time my wage goes up body shops raise their rates by triple the amount....

the idea is good, but sheesh, the price is a tad nasty!!! perhaps time to send a box full of stuff back to regina for Kirk/93PGT to do a deal on. Marlon/skidooman could do the pick-up and drop sometime when he's going to his folks and i'm sure we could get them back to ya one way or another.

i actually went threw a tour with maaco one day, they actually can do some nice stuff! they bassically have 3 different quality paint levels, so in other words, you get what you pay for... cheap, good and gooder lol
i wouldnt mind doing stuff like that, its still expensive tho, you gotta remember the booth needs to run for an hour or so depending on the size, being kept a nice temp to paint it, and then has to be baked for an hour... (its ran on an enormous natural gas furnace) then the over head charges, materials (sandpaper/masking) then the paint (etch/metal to metal, sealer/primer, base, clear) then of course the fabulous thing we call taxes... plus any polishing if need be
but yeah if anyone is serious about gettin some work done let me know!
ps. im having issues typing today so if it doesnt make sense thats why

A simple final scuff and spray doesn`t need to cost over $340 in labour plus paint material on two loose fenders ready to paint. I figure 2 hours prep & paint time start to finish, no masking on loose fenders. Most of the time is in the preparation which I will do before hand.
I`ve found that Maaco`s rates no cheaper than any most other bodyshops for a quality body & paint job, in some cases they can be more.

A paint job costs almost as much as an older restored vehicle maybe worth. The rest including the mechanicals, upholstery, new glass, your ''labour of love'', etc is a loss when selling.
