Got the pan out along with pump but there was no gasket between the block and pump but there was a gasket between the pickup screen tube and pump. Is this normal or did they leave something out at the factory?

ford service manual show no gasket except between pick up and pump.
The gasket is probably split just due to age. Rubber tends to deteriorate over time, especially when exposed to oil. The pan gasket on my dad's truck did the same thing. I wouldn't worry -- replace it and keep on truckin'.
I really appreciate the replies, this has turned into a bigger deal than I remember it being on my 89 F150. Well I took tomorrow off so I am going to try and get all this stuff back together and back on the road before it gets cold around here.
I have the gasket for the pick up/pump. Gonna clean everything up and and get this done.
