That's what i get for buying a "deal". I already had the shocks so i got the two springs only for $250 shipped to my house which is a great deal. But, if this is considered a serious safety issue, why not spend $1350 for a 4" donahoe lift?

Not uncommon with cheap springs....never seen it with cepek springs (mainly since I don't know anyone who runs their stuff), but have seen quite a few Superlifts crack (the ones made in India...can't recall it on the old ones they used to have made in Canada).

If you already have a pitman arm and trac bar bracket and want to reuse your shocks you can buy just the DR 4" springs (they had a price drop within the last 2 months).

That lift is going to make the ride extremely stiff.
Even when I was your age that was only fun for about six blocks. Then I wanted the ride back.
A side benefit is that it will make your g/f bounce a lot more.

Im thinking about doing the lift now. Dan have you ever rode in a truck with Deaver springs? They ride just like a car, nice and smooth yet responsive. Alot of thin leaves make a great ride. Guaranteed not to break or crack, so it looks like thats what im going with. Won't risk hurting the engine either .

Plus she wants to have it lifted, and she's got some nice "jigglers".

If she's giving you the thumbs up, I don't see how you have a choice!

Just a little FYI, the new DR springs are no longer made by Deaver......almost identical, they made a few changes in the spring design. They are DR's proprietary design.

FWIW, I looked at my driver-side rear spring and my bottom leaf is starting to shift as well. I can get a pic of it later, but your deal made me go look at mine and it's shifted much the same way, but not nearly as bad.

Yeah Kris you are right about the springs. Early on the springs were made to lift the truck, and thats all. They where designed to haul hay and very rigid. Now the Technology that goes into the springs, has to do more with the tempering of the steel. This enables them to be designed for the proper ride, along with the strength and heigth engineered in to the Springs. So now you can lift your truck and enjoy an almost factory ride without rattling your stereo lose. But then agian, Dan has a piont too.. I vote you get a lift. Country

Definitely contact Cepek and let them know what has happened. A local spring shop can fix you up but why pay for it if DC will take care of it for you. That kind of break doesn't have anything to do with road salt. I've seen enough broken springs to know that that is either faulty material or due to improper torque of center bolt during assembly. Even if you were doing jumps etc. that spring wouldn't have broken on it's own, there would be more broke higher in the stack. Good luck on your repairs.
