Looks as if we have some ice headed our way. I hope it's nothing like the last one. I keep watching the radar and it says it is right above me but I have nothing as of yet. Keeping my fingers crossed though! Last time we were without power for like 2 weeks and a tree branched fell through our roof!
It is drizzling here now and freezing. I could be bad if some of the major power lines go down. I didn't do much other than get gas in the wife's yota. I filled the diesel up last week and haven't driven it so it is about full. We should have enough food for a week or two just with what is in the fridge and cubboards. Have a fireplace and plenty of wood and a grill on the patio, so we should be OK. The only problem is the wife is in L.A. and is due into KC tomorrow about noon. If her flight is cancelled OK, but if not I need to go get her.
Yup. Still have pics of the last one. I'll have to go see if I can get a generator if the power goes out. No fire place at my place so the pipes will freeze with out electric.
It's raining right now was kinda hoping it would pass us by but i guess not. Lucky i put in a 3ft piece of railroad rail in the trunk of my uncles yota that i have to use.
Looks like we dodged the bullet this time....got up about 5:30 to go to work early, and it was just raining. Most everyone's at work today except a few folks whose kids are out of school today.
My Mom in Hutchinson has been without power for over 12 hours. She is starting to worry a bit. Salina, I am told has no water or sewer. Marysville is touch and go on power. Tomorrow is suppose to have no water and those without power are looking at 3-7 days before power is restored. The trees are taking a beating and it is risky to drive around town because limbs may fall on you.
Heard a loud pop and poof no lights here, just our block though grrrrr.... I do love my laptop and aircard at times like these.... sit in the car nice and warm, and surf the net....
Wanna hear something funny, I was prepared if we lost power, I got the 2 kerosene heaters tested, a couple of lanterns tested, and got the camp cook stove out to cook on. I Had a large power innverter, ready to hook up to the truck with 2 full tanks of gas, to run the furnace... and all of it is in the garage... yep the garage with the nice electric garage door, and no walkthrough door... yep kinda felt a little silly pushing the button... and it didn't open... Had this dumb look on my face... then it hit me---- yep feeling a bit silly now... laugh hard I am.
They way things are going you are not the only one with silly look on their face. My neighors Ranger took one branch on his hood and another on his windshield and support post. Told him to move it before the next branch fell, so far it hasn't. Trees are incredible structrues that can take one hell've a beaten and these are taken it.
We were powerless for the better part of the day but it has since been restored. Still hearing a few pops here and there and hopeing the one above our main power line/cable/phone doesn't fall.
