I need to replace a couple sections of vacuum hose on my truck, its a 2000 5.4. The pieces I need to replace are 2 next to each other that (I believe) come from the intake manifold and go up towards the throttle body. They are probably no longer than 8" and in an S type shape.
The other piece I need to replace is about an inch long, its the middle of a T section that is (if you are standing at the front of the truck, facing the engine) to the left of the throttle body, I think its just above and to the right of where the PCV is.
Anyways, are these the same size vacuum lines? so could I buy a section and cut it to what I need? and where can I buy some? I searched Autozone.com and all the results that appear for vacuum hoses say none available.
you can go to Auto Zone and buy a 2 ft length of gas line/ vacuum hose (generic). you dont need the specific part number from FORD. The two 8 inch long hoses i replaced a couple weeks ago. I think i had 18 inch piece of 1/4 inch ID hose, cut in half and installed. seems like one side was a little looser than the other, but both are now 1/4 inch for me. Original hose was burnt about an inch from the end and kept giving a vacuum leak code. It dont hurt to have 2 feet of 1/4 inch and 2 feet of 3/16 laying around the garage for these type jobs.
