I have a '91 F-150 with electric windows and one will not move up and down on the drivers side. I hear the motor and the bracket assembly moving up and down when I press the button. Before I tear the door panel off,I am asking. Is the glass glued into a channel or is it clipped in (or bolted)? The glass moves freely by hand when the assembly in down and I would like to have the right 'stuff' on hand to fix this before I get to involved in tearing it apart. Any suggestions (good ones) are welcome.
NOt sure if this will help but here goes, when I had the glass replaces in my 96 F250, it had the metal piece attached to the bottom of it from the factory. It looked to be glued in some way. It is possible that the glass could have come unattached. My 93 F150 glass does not go up or down, when I took it all apart I found that were 2 plastic gears that had broken, stripped teeth. I ordered the replacement gears from LMS for under $40, and it is working good now.

Does it make any noises, like scatching or sraping noises. If so the arm could be bent. My 95 F150 XLT has power windows and the driver side would not go down. I took off the panel, tore back the plastic and found the arm was bent. Don't know how, I bought the truck off my neighbor for $1000 bucks on friday after Thanksgiving. I bent the arm straight, put it back in the track and it goes up and down like it was new.
I'd say it's possible the glass has come loose from the regulator but more than likely something in the regulator has broken or come apart.
Taking the door panel off isn't hard and I'd have some 1/4 20 bolts and nuts, 1/2 to 3/4 " maybe to put the regulator back together if you can. I think it's riveted together. Sounds like maybe a rivet or two let go. Might need a drill too.
From working at Ford parts counters for 35 years, I'd say: It's most likely the plastic window roller, or the gear in the motor has stripped--VERY COMMON for that to happen.
The glass channel is bolted to the glass with plastic bushings on either side.
On factory assembled trucks, some of the channels are plastic and have a nasty habit of snapping in two. The replacement channels purchased from Ford are metal.
1. Is the motor bad? Prolly not.
2. Or is the replaceable plastic gear in the motor bad? The gear strips frequently. Motor runs = window won't move. Ford p/n = D0AZ-62234A24-B.
This part is readily available from Ford and autoparts stores.
3. It could be something else....the dreaded plastic window roller: D6AZ-5323240-A. Ford list price $7.50 each.
Fits everything cars & trucks > 1976 thru at least 1996. Available from Ford and from every parts store.
The window roller: The roller is plastic with a threaded metal stud attached. The stud of the roller bolts to the end of the window regulator arm, the plastic portion fits into the window channel.
What happens is the stud pulls out of the plastic roller. The motor runs, but the window won't move.

Thanks guys, for all of the input. The motor works and I can hear the assembly going up and down. I think that the window came loose from the channel some how. I willpull the panel and have a look see. Thanks for all of the part numbers. I kind of though that the glass might be glued to the channel and that it came loose.
