do i have a rare truck or are my decals rong im second owner from my gramps my truck is an 83 ford F-100 NOT f-150 it is a 100 maverick explorer with the 300 in it
No, you don't have some kind of rare or limited edition truck. The F-100 was the only 1/2 ton model Ford offered in the 60's and early 70's. The F-150 came along in 1975 as a higher GVW 1/2 ton, mainly to avoid emission laws. The F-100 was still offered thru 1984 (if I recall correctly), but was eventually dropped.
1980/83 F100's were promoted by Ford as a "Light Truck" and have 5 X 4.50 bolt pattern wheels, 10" rear brakes, and lighter suspension and shocks than the F150 does. Only limited models and accessories were offered. Last F100 = 1983.
Never heard of a Maverick Explorer F100...but Ford did all sorts of sales promotions, usually in the spring. They were based on regions, or states. So, is it a real Ford Maverick Explorer F100? Prolly not...but you never know.
Besides a former owner, a Ford dealer could (prolly in Texas) have added the nameplates as some sort of sales promotion. Since these F100's were limited with what could be ordered in the way of accessories (read = little profit), a dealer could add aftermarket stripes, some chrome trim, running boards...you name it, to boost the profit margin. This sales gimmick is widely used today to dress up "price leader" pickups from all the manufacturers.
There were no 1980/83 F100 Explorers as original. First use of the Explorer nameplate on a pickup = 1972 = D2TZ-9925622-A.
btw: original Ford Maverick = 1970/77.

i dout a truck sold in saskatchewan canada had a texas guy fool with it but the f-100 maverick is one piece and it has the explorer stripe
Do you have a picture of the F-100 Maverick badge as a one piece? That'd be interesting. Kinda like the Bronco I saw with an original badge that said "Trailer King" as part of the Bronco badge (all one piece).
That almost sounds like somebody put a Maverick (car) badge under the F100 badge for fun. Get us a picture if you can. Never heard of this before; maybe NumberDummy knows.
What I remember (and my memory could be off) is that my '77 F100 was tougher in many ways than my '84 F150. For example, the '77 has 11 inch clutch, vs the '84s 10 inch. Also, the '77 has forged radius rods, vs the '84's were stamped (for weight reduction). I learned the difference first time I tried to hop a curb in my '84 when it was 1 week old and I bent the axle. Hopped many a curb in the '77 and beat on that thing mercilessly and it took it Ford Tough.

Since you are in Canada, I would think the Maverick nameplate could be original. There have been many vehicles sold over the years with different trim package designations, for the same trim level, depending on whether it was USA or Canada version.
It's entirely possible that the Maverick nameplate was as common up there, as the Ranger or Custom nameplate was here. Example, I have an 1980 F-150 Ranger Explorer. These days, those nameplates are on 3 totally different vehicles. Ranger was a pickup trim level, while Explorer was basiclly just a sport stripe package. Now, they are both seperate models, with their own trim level packages.
Ford rarely thinks up new names, just recycles the old, familiar ones. I keep expecting to see a new Falcon or Fairlane, maybe even a new Galaxie......

There were a few of those around the country but I have not seen one for a long time. Where abouts in saskatchewan did your grandpa buy the truck?
