Definitely pushing me to hurry up and finish my fuel mods. I read your post before I left to drive home and actually paid attention to the top end of my sled, its lack luster for sure. But hell, I'm still basing everything off of a gasser. For an 8800 lbs truck, I guess it ain't bad.
Definitely gonna put any extra Christmas fund away for the ITP setup. I just hate half to pay for it when I know I can make the actual intank piece. The filter and filter base is all I really need.
Joe - D'you think that's making your pump work any harder?
I am using that filter too. No problems so far. At least that I have seen. Cheap, and easy to see what is trying to go to the pump. Flowed enough for 311/640 with stock jectors and turbo last April.

Izzy -I read somewhere about not removing your filter (under hood) in case fuel pump would shoot craps - Youd wind up with all that getting to the injectors. I half thought about taking mine out but after reading that decided against, cant find the post now but it made sense . I notice my truck seems to be about 40-50% quieter now than be4 I did the intank. I havnt burned a whole tank yet either, only about 75 miles. Sure like fillin up better now since cuttin off the vent line, other than the price of diesel -LOL.

What did they get you for dollars wise? I haven't been able to make piecing an ITP kit work out for me. For the extra $10-20 it seems like it will be a lot cleaner looking with a lot less effort. I know there is always the fun of making it...but I like to go coyote hunting too
Fleetfilter.com = 29.49 for #4770 and #3405 (equivalent to the BF1212. I always have some kind of metal laying around to fab up a bracket.

I hear ya. I wanted to check out how much it is to piece it together as well. The ITP kit is no doubt a quality product. I just like proving to myself that there is a reason we pay for someone else to make what we want.

Now see, you and I think alike. I did piece that kit together. and found that ITP does not make a whole lot of money off their kit. (I only came up about $20 shy of their price after I mocked it all up). I have seen and helped install Dennis' kit, and have put my own together. definatley call him unless you actually have another reason to be at the hydralic fitting store.

Yeah, I read that too. Thanks for bringing it up because I forgot all about that point, honestly. No point in a "cleaner engine bay" if the engine has injested pump parts into the fuel rails. I do know that a lot of folks have done it, and it's probably a pretty darned rare occasion where the pump fails in a way to puke parts and still pump fuel & parts into the engine. YMMV.
It didn't take long at all for mine to quiet down. A little bit of idle time, and less than a mile drive. If you look at the fuel system, it won't take long for it to purge air. That said, I have the CCK, so I think it probably helps purge it quicker.
