I Got My Edge On A 5.4. It Did Give A Boost In The Tow Mode. I Havnt Tried The Perf. Yet. Have To Save Up For The 91+ Octane . With The Kn Air Intake And The Magnaflow, Its A Hoot To Drive But There Hasnt Been Any Increase In Gas Mileage. The Read Outs Are Good And Its Easy To Install. Hope This Helps.
I was thinking about getting an Edge, Im concerned with the harder shifting. DOnt they just increase the line pressure to firm up the shifts? Isnt that a bad thing? I have 63K miles on my truck and im worried about blowing something up. All you folks with high miles and an edge lemme know how its working out.
I'm guessing your results with the 4.6 would be pretty much the same as the 5.4 users are getting... the motors are darn near identical, except for the displacement.

not necessarily, soft shifting is harder on the tranny than firm shifting.
Agreed, but increasing line pressure isnt the best thing for the tranny either. My concern is how bad is it? I had a mercury cougar and we drilled larger holes in the seperator plate to increase the firmness that way. By the way, what color is your Mach 1? I had a black 03 and got rid of it for the truck. GOD I MISS IT.
has anyone tried the edge evolution on a 4.6 f150 and what kind of results did you have.
Give SCT a honest look its just as good if not better with custom tuning...Firmer shifts are not done through TV pressure but Drive By Wire Torque base.
I run my edge with a custom tune and its a 4.6...of course its still a gutless pig =)
I run the level 2 tune and it runs pretty darn good. Also increased the shift firmness a minor amount. bumped it up 5 on all three shifts. I really want to adjust the standard RPM shift points but I am just too lazy to look around for the factory RPM shift points...I want to back them off mebbe 500 rpm. also the gas I was getting from one gas station actually seemed like it was making it ping a bit at WOT and I dialed back the timing a half degree and that went away as well. with the larger tires my speedo was whacked, but I set it according to what the conversion tables were in the manual and just use the dro on the edge.
THE ONLY thing I don't like about the edge setup is the dash-pod. I guess mine just don't fit...so I am just going to get one of the universal navigation pod holders and use it.
I had my Edge on my 04 4.6 SCab and I couldn't have been happier with how much it woke it up. I was regularly getting 18-20 mpg on the interstate driving back and forth to school about 25 miles round trip. I could get over 600 miles with the 35.7 gal tank. I could chirp the tires sometimes too. I had a K&N and a single in dual out Flowmaster as well so that probably added to the mileage. The Edge was easily the best money I spent on that truck. I have it on my 06 FX4 now and love it even more. I ran it on level 2 with the firmness bumped up +5 on all shifts. I wish I could get that mileage on my truck now. I'm lucky to get over 15 on the interstate.
Definitely the first mod I should have done. The Volant intake and the Flowmaster helps it flow air more efficiently, but the smooth shifting and the power you get from Stage 3, I sometimes wonder if I have a 5.4 litre under the hood. I have it set on stage 1 currently (no power added, just softer shifting) and it feels 10x better than stock. You wont regret it.
Plus it has cool functions like diagnostic reader, you can read and delete codes. You can also set alarms for different fluids, set your speedo, calibrate ur truck for ur bigger tires, set timing, shift firmnes, etc, etc etc...
I Hated How The Truck Shifted With The Edge. It Was A Prolonged Shift. Stock Is A Quick Shift, Sometimes Soft, But It Will Firm Up If Your Gettin Into It. The Edge Shifts Took Too Long And At Wot Id Get A Slip Bang That Ive Never Had Before @ Stock. Sold The Edge As A Result. Absolutely No Increase In Mileage Either. Dont Care What Anyone Says, If You Want A Tune Get A Custom. Not Too Mention Goin Up A Long Hill On The Hwy At 72mph In And Out Of Od, Whereas On The Same Hill Stock Trucks Up It In Od. I Tried All 3 Settings. To Me Goin Up A Long Hill In Od Means More Power Than Constantly In And Out Of Od.
