throttle dropout on 04

I've been working on an 04 F-350 and it has an intermediant problem with the throttle droping out and having nothing but idle. It has recently had a new egr installed and a throttle pedal. Does anyone have a suggestion or can point me in the right direction. thanks for any help.

Have you checked the wiring harnesses for any chafing issues? 03/04 trucks were pretty prone to that.

Yep--check the harness around the driverside valve cover, especially under the FICM. You probably don't have any kind of computer codes stored either, right?

there was actually a factory recall for this wiring harness have a dealership check your oasis and see if yours has been replaced yet or is a candidate for one.

I had the same issues, the throttle would go dead,and just idle, this would only happen for a few seconds. Turned out to be a bad ICP.

Mine did the same thing, was the pedal assembly.

sorry for the late reply, power is out from ice storm. no codes are in the ecm. haven't seen any chafed wires. Will look again. is the recall a ford mandatory one, or will they try to get out of it with high milage.
