As for mounting, make sure it stays out of your line of vision for driving, but you can still see it. Here is what I would do, take some double sided tape and just start mounting it in different places (without wiring it in) and see how you like it in each position.

O.K.then I'll try the grey connector with the tan /yellow wire first, hopefully thats the SPOUT, guess it wont take much to find out!
Pretty much decided to put the gauge on the top of the dash to the far left almost against the side window, where it curves down to the small triangular window panel. Good idea with the tape though, maybe I'll stick it there during next week & see how it goes.

thats where i placed mine, you don't notice it directly till it stops working ( i had to un hook it once then drive home like that) unless you actualy look for it.
Just a minute! Why not to use PIP signal from camshaft position sensor. 3 pulses per 1 cranckshaft revolution.
Yeah , just been on to the tech support & they tell me I've got the wrong tach, I need an upgraded version with the inductive pick-up coil to be compatible with DIS .
With the pu-coil it's $85 instead of $45, seems a lot of money for a p/u coil .
Anyhow I think I'm going to try it, the spout signal only seems to be a low volt circuit, & it does say not recomended to work with DIS systems. It does not say will not work.
Wont be happy if it smokes the EDIS module though !
