ringing noise
2006 F250 6.0 PS...48000 miles...I am hearing a whine, whistle, moan sound...hard to tell where it is coming from, kinda an all-around sound...sometimes I hear it when I accelerate...sometimes when I take my foot off the pedal...sometimes just going down the road...seems to be no rhyme or reason...ANY IDEAS?

Could be the turbo. My 2003 would make strange noises like you describe, and then suddenly stop. Oh, also, I almost forgot, someone on this forum pointed out about the cooling fan which is ordinary and customary. It too will sound a little like something needs repaired, but not so. My 2005 6.0 would make sounds like you describe while climbing the Virginia mountains under load with my foot in it. As quickly as it started it would stop, and that was the fan.
