I've searched and I know there are a lot of posts regarding vibrations here, but I can't find any posts that describe mine specifically.
My truck is an 04 FX4 SuperCrew with 60k miles on it. The vibration I feel is from 60 to 65 mph. It shakes the whole truck. It is not there under or over that speed. It happens all the time and doesn't matter if I accelerate, decelerate, in OD or not.
I have not rotated or balanced the tires yet. I will, but I don't think that's the problem.
Does this sound familiar to anyone? Any definitive fixes?
I just got the truck about 3k miles ago so I'm about to do the oil. I'll rotate then and see what happens. By the position of the oil filter it looks to be kind of a messy job! Do you guys run 5W20 like the book says to? That sounds odd to me but it's been a long while since I've owned a new(er) vehicle.
I had the same problem and it ended up being my rear brakes, I balanced the tires, got 2 new ones all at the dealers advice...finally they replaced my rear rotors, pads and 1 caliper all under warranty and vibration gone..
And yes I use Motorcraft 5W20 blend, and the filter change is a minor pain.
I know this is old, but I've had a lot of life happening the past year or so so stuff gets put on hold. Thougt I'd post an update.
Rotation and balance didn't seem to affect this at all. The other day I put the rearend up on jack stands and let it idle in Drive to look at the drive shaft. It's wobbling! Measuring in the middle (with my eyes) it looks like it's about 1/8 to 3/16. I don't think this is normal but I have no idea how this could have happened.
Thoughts? Will I need a new one or can this be serviced?
