When in OD, if I get on the gas to accelerate (but not enough to kick down), I hear a pretty loud buzzing sound coming from the transmission (or that's where it sounds like it's coming from). I can also feel it in the gas pedal. It almost sounds like how a hydraulic pressure relief valve sounds. If I turn OD off, it doesn't do it.
I have it too. At least similar. Sounds to me like from the rear right around the muffler. I can't find it. Please let me know if you get any leads. Mine is an 04, 5.4 4x4 Scab.
My 04 does the same thing when the engine is "lugging" in OD. I believe it to be one of the heat shields on the exhaust rattling or buzzing when the engine hits the sweet spot. I did have the dealer check it several times, they of course couldn't duplicate the problem, so they never corrected it.

Yes that sounds feasible. I got under there and tried to wiggle the heat shields. They seem tight but that is what it sounds like for sure.
Thanks for the replies guys. I hope it's just something lose rattling but I'm doubtful that's it. It's only in OD and it's very high frequency. I'll crawl around underneath and see if I can find anything. The steel wool idea is a good one.
Old post I know but life gets in the way sometimes. I'm still having this issue. I didn't find any source of sheet metal vibration. I really think it's coming from the transmission.
