Yep, I'd say they are newer than the rest, but they are pickin up momentum fast. They pretty much do anything that a big autoparts chain does.
I've done business with them a couple of times and I've had no problems. Powerstroke shop the only way to go.. but with that new recall.. their may be a freebe in the works!!!
Am I in the right forum? This covers up to 96 trucks... there is nothing that shows 97 year in the forum list of trucks...........
I plugged in my vin on Ford's website and it shows my truck as getting the new CPS... problem is... I had to buy one on my own dime this past year.... wonder if they've actually come up with a tougher CPS or if the part number for the replacement under recall is the same?... do I get a replacement and my money back for the last one I bought... or just a replacement and a pat on the back for spending money at my local ford dealership instead of the navistar dealer... for the last CPS I had to buy..... ?????
Also..... what are they gonna say about the chip in the back of the cpu .... or do I gotta take it out before I take the truck in? They plug in their code reader and they'll get stuff that aint supposed to be there... I hope they just pop out the CPS and stick another in.... and let me have the new one I just bought back.... anyone got a borderline one I can put in .... so I can keep my good one HA HA
I have heard they will reimburse those who have already replaced the sensor with the new Gray sensor in the last 2 years. Except the gray sensor has only been out for 6 months or so. I doubt the chip will matter. I am not taking mine out.
$15.00 for a Ford CPS... wow... where were those prices when I bought mine for $100 and change??? actually I think it was close to $150 or something from my dealership in Sheridan WY
Just got mind changed and I didn't do anything to unmod my truck. They didn't say anything either. Although I am not chipped, I do have the 10k mod.
It took them 45 min.
Took mine in yesterday to get fixed and they said the recall says to check if it has a gray or black one. Gray = good Black = bad. They came out and said it had the gray one and didn't need replacing, only the black ones get replaced. I'm pretty sure this is the original CPS in the truck. Did they have the gray one's back then? Just wondering, it's been cold here and haven't gotten the chance to check it myself.
The gray sensor has only been out for about 6 months so it you haven't changed it then it probably the blakc sensor.
Also its still unknown whether the gray sensor is actually better or jsut cheaper. When people say it better that is specualtion IMO. in about a year we will know whether it is better.
