Same CPS working wise.
They changed the plating on the pins.
To 96 was silver pins. CPS and connector
97 on was gold pins. CPS and connector
Problems was believed to be corrosion issues.
The silver color pins i believe were tin coated. Not shure.
Maybe I'll throw my 97 block I'm rebuilding in the back of my truck and bring it to them (cps still installed). I'll tell them,"I got the rest at home just send a tow truck if you need to see it". LOL . Moderfluckers

It is the Cam Position Sensor and easy to change. Print out the notice and take to the dealer to see if they will do it for ya. There are no definitive symptoms for the CPS it does all kinds of things when going bad. If they won't you can get one cheap at several places and change it yourself with a 10 mm and screwdriver.

OK here's the deal. I just picked up my truck from the dealer as they had just replaced the CPS under the provisions of the recall. The next part is the real shocker, the new part number that is used to replace the defective CPS is:
A little drum roll please.......F7TZ*12K073*B Sensor-Camshaft Position.......just as all of you Gruru's said it was.
So, now I have two brand new, in the package spares.
