C6 Cooler Fitting FYI
Hi everyone,
I am currently rebuilding an Aussie '82 F100 with a factory 351C and C6 auto. I'm replacing the factory hard lines with 3/8 (-6AN) lines and fittings and needed to replace the C6 cooler line fittings at the gearbox. I searched high and low for the gearbox fitting size but couldn't locate anything except the factory line size (which is 5/16 with an inverted flare fitting at the gearbox end).
Eventually (by measuring the fitting when I removed it) I found out that the thread size for the fittings in the gearbox are 1/8 NPT (female). So for anyone else looking for the C6 gearbox cooler line fitting size, there it is.
I replaced the factory fitting with a 1/8 NPT to -6AN fitting to allow me to install -6AN line and fittings (including a thermostat, cooler and filter).
Hopefully one day (when I get the time) I'll be able to post a description and pics of the upgrade.
