C6 Cooler Lines

What are the threaded hole sizes for the two cooler lines going into the C6 transmission body? My online research says it could be 1/4” or 1/8” NPT. Some also claim the threads could be NPS(which I doubt).

Second, how much fluid will you loose when removing the tubes from the transmission body? Do I need plugs handy to stop the flow?

1972 Ford F250, 390 FE, C6 trans

Its not gonna leak to much outa there, but what is in the lines. But anyways,Do you mean the threaded fittng on the tube or the adaptor fitting between the tube & trans case. The tubing is 5/16",so you would need a male plug for inverted flare..If you remove the adaptor, you can use a 1/4"pipe plug. But I wouldn't worry to much bout it either way,cuz your not gonna lose to much.

on my 72 c4 and my 78 c6 they both were 1/8 npt. you'll loose as much out the lines, as the trans just put a drain pan under it, it wont be more than a quart.

I was asking about the hole size the adaptor threads into the trans body, which sounds like it will be 1/4" NPT. Thanks.
