ok just did the volt test on pin 3 and pin 10 and the meter just jumped all over the place but we lost the buzzer sound and the speedo works to 35 mph before it goes crazy and its back to hunting for gears I think we have grimlins in there somewere we are going after another PSOM and give that a try.

Sounds like a bad tone ring. Measure the gap.

Remove rear axle differential cover.

Measure the shortest distance from the RABS sensor pole piece to the teeth on the RABS sensor ring.

Rotate the axle 60-90 degrees.

Repeat the two previous steps five times for a total of five measurements.

Are all measurements between 0.127mm (0.005 inch) and 1.14mm (0.045 inch) and within 0.254mm (0.010 inch) of each other?

Sounds right but I would think it should not be jumping.
4-5 volts AC is what the 93 shop manual calls for and the wiring and the sensor should be the same as a 96.
The 96 shop manual says to do it the same way but Connect Rotunda 88 Digital Multimeter 105-00053 or equivalent between harness connector Pin 10 (Circuit 523-R/PK) and Pin 3 (Circuit 519 -- LG/BK).

Set the meter to the frequency counter (Hz) setting.

Gradually spin the rear wheels.

Does the frequency increase as the rear wheel speed increases?

Sometimes when the manual calls for a frequency counter you can use an old dwell meter that was used for a point type ignition system.

But I would think the AC voltmeter should have worked.

ok after reading your last post we did the test wrong I had the meter on DC so we just did the test again with the meter on AC and I got around .760 volts.

I think we will try and run new wires from the vss/abs sensor but does it goto the RABS module then to the PSOM or the other way and I may need a diagram if someone has one for the 96 E350 I'm almost bald with this one.

I said the wrong thing above, I said "old dwell meter" and what I meant to say was "tachometer". I have an old dwell/tachometer that I use and I get in the habit of calling it a dwell meter no matter what I am using it for.
Sorry.

You have to use it on the tachometer function and set the tachometer to the four-cylinder scale (regardless of how many cylinders the engine has).
But any tachometer will work.

By the way I sent you a PM.

ok guy's sorry it took so long to get back but after all our hair was gone we took it to our little dealer here in town where we know the tech in the back and he knows his stuff he had it for about two hours and had it fixed and the list of problems are as follows.front left tire was two pounds low,the muffler bearings were bad and we were low on blinker fluid ok ok the funs over it was weak plug retainers for rabs sensor so the plug wasn't snaping on all the way so the PSOM wasn't getting a good signal they replaced the plug snaped it back on and it ran fine it just shows you realy have to look at everthing anyway thanks for all your help guy's.
