I had already increased the tire pressure to 75 psi in the front, as it was my 2005 dually. Truthfully that seemed to help a little. But after installing Billsteins front, back and stalizer, all death wobble gone.

I did not have continental tires, and forget the mfr., but the window sticker from my 2005 states: LT245/75RX17E owl ALL TERRAIN.

I would bet my bottom dollar, you change the shocks, your problem will disappear. Running low air pressure will give you premature wear out and that would exacerbate the death wobble.

When I traded my truck at 31,000 miles, I planned on buying new tires after the first of the year.

Oh, the shocks I had clearly state in large print: RANCHO
Roger and what's a Burgher?

Rolling Rock:
If you have to ask, you ain't one! Just kidding. Now we have ROTHLIS--BURGHERs. Before our great quarterback, we only had KIELBASA & pitts == BURGHERS! If you come from the BURGH, you know about GUM BANDS, ain't, three rivers, Roberto 21 Clemente, and that the BURGH was # 7 on Hitler's bombing list: A BURGHER is from Pittsburgh, PA. (Rolling Rock WAS manufactured in Latrobe, PA and sold out recently) 33

How do the Bilsteins ride compared to the factory "ranchos" and why does the Level 2 ranger come with bilsteins and the super duty doesn't?

Dustball, have you not read anything anyone has written?

The bilstein ride is superior to the "ford rancho" shock.

Like bigskymt said; Rancho 9000's are excellent shocks, and the 9000XL's are even better shocks. I run the 9000xl's on my 2000 Ex and love the ride and the ability to adjust them easily.

Ranchos/Bilsteins

Shocks are shocks!
The diferance betwen the Ranchos and Bilsteins are the design. The Ranchos are a twin tube and the Bilsteins a mono tube.
The mono tube are more costly to manufactor and have a shorter stroke. Twin tubes have a larger body and cheaper to make.
Most American shocks are made by one of two manufactures.
The company that makes shocks for Monroe also makes shocks for Rancho all to there own specs.
Then you could buy custom made shocks like King, Swayaway, or Fox. Just wright the the check.

My "real" Ranchos have been great for 7 years. If you carry widely variable loads (i.e. empty to max loads with not much in between), then their adjustability is hard to match.
