[QUOTE=Tom Hoffman]Don't do it man!!!!!!!! keep the 7.3 for another year My 2008 is JUNK!!
I don't understand how people can tell you there is no problem . QUOTE]

I'v had my truck for 6 months with NO major problems and i own a 99 7.3. I am totally satisfied with my choice, alot of issues people are complaining about are being expirenced with chevy and Dodge as well. The 6.4 is not a ground up new motor, alot of the engine was carried over from the 6.0. Think of it as a 6.0 with all the problems worked out.

The number of happy coustomers far out weights the unhappy ones.

I hadn't heard that yet. I'll have to look and see if I can find anything about that. The Ford motor was 6.8 not 6.7. Code name Scorpion.

I haven't had any problems either as have the majority of posters. Dont let a couple of lemonsuckers keep you from buying the finest diesel pickup that Ford has ever produced.

Wink

I was talking with the head of the Phil Long Heavy Truck service here in Colorado Springs a few weeks back and he had told me that he was recently at a meeting with Ford and International reguarding the new motor. He found out that the 6.4l is having the same or a bit less warranty issues as the 7.3l. Far better than the 6.0l. As for hearing that, it made me personally feel much better about my decision to own a 6.4l.

I hate to say it but unless someone goes to the source (Ford or a Ford service facility that knows up from down) to get answers reguarding problems than the rest are just opinions. As the saying goes...Opinions are like a**holes everyone has one!

If anyone is concerned about the new ford diesel then don't purchase one. However for the rest of us let us enjoy our new trucks and use this site to it's full potential. Enough bad mouthing the 6.4l. Also if anyone honestly bought one of these trucks for great fuel mileage, why?? Its a truck not an economy vehicle. I don't necessarily have money comming out of my ears for fuel but I purchased the truck for my personal needs. Think about it if you can afford this type of truck as I can then by god you can afford the fuel to put in it as well.

This truck is by far the BEST I've ever owned!! I would recommend it to anyone!!! As far as my fuel mileage that's for me to know. I will post pictures as soon as it's warm enough to wash it.

ford did not sign a new contract with international. international signed a contract with GM. an fords new diesel is a 6.7, not 6.8l. the 6.4 will only reside in fords for 08 and 09 models. and i think the 6.4's are doing quite well.

I have had my 6.4 for six months and over 10,000. NO problems with the engine and it pulls my 35 foot 5th very well. milage has been getting better but it is not an economy modle as as previousle mentioned. I have had a 7.3 and a 300 Cat. This is the best so far. I also had a Cummings and it was the most expencive maintance truck and engine I have had since the earily 90's. I drive about 250 th every 4 to 5 years.

I don't care how many test miles they put on those things. Real world experience is the only thing that counts. When i see new 6.4 with 3200 miles being traded that makes me want to run right out and buy one!! WOW it must be the best thing since sliced bread. My 7.3 will still be running when ford decides what POS diesel its going to use next. 6.0, 6.4 wow they are really setting the bar high with those 2.

You see ALOT more 6.7 Cummins traded in with low miles then the 6.4s, a local dodge dealer has five used 6.7s. The only reason they are traded in is probably due to fuel economy. I personally wouldn't trade my 7.3 for a 08 because the warrenty is so strict, but out of all the new trucks I think they are beautiful.

Thats something new?? I thought dodges always did that lol. Plugged DPFs are one reason I have heard and they have a problem while idling. My personal favorite truck is a nice loaded out 07 250 King Ranch Oxford white and gold.
