Anyone here ever use Restore with good results(the stuff you poor in your oil, supposed to fill scratches in the cylinder walls etc etc.) I was thinking about buying some for my truck but I dont want to waste $7.00.
Thanks
LAST EDITED ON 14-Oct-01 AT 11:21 PM (EST)[p]Used the stuff since the 200K mile mark. I had two cylinders with low compression readings (100 lbs while the others were around 135). I put the stuff in to test the principle. If it worked, I just saved myself a rebuild project. If it didn't I just wasted the $8.84. After 200 miles (about 4 days worth of driving) I rechecked the readings. All cylinders were at or above 140 lbs. I also noticed the truck idled smoother and ran better.
Not trying to sell you on the stuff, but it seemd to work for me. I also change the oil at least every 4,000 miles and add the stuff every change. I've changed the oil without the Restore and noticed a performance difference within a week. The compression reading dropped back to what they were before the Restore was ever added.
Since the 300 is close in size to a small block, I use the 8 cyl size. Figure the stuff has a lot of surface area to cover in the long stroke block.
