My tailgate window is stuck in the up position. I thought it was a problem with the motor gears, but when I opened the access panel, I could see that on the passenger side, the window is actually outside the track (towards the rear of the bronco). The bottom of the window is about 1" lower than the top of the track, and the window won't roll up any further. How do I get it back on the track? The passenger side is a lot harder to get to, I can only see it when I stick my head into the opening on the driver's end of the tailgate and shine my flashlight.
My second problem is that the passenger side door won't lock. The rod looks like it is in the locked (down) position, but won't budge either way. The key won't turn the lock either. How can I inspect the locking mechanism? I took the door panel off, but I had trouble seeing anything in there and lost patience.
You can manually open the latches on both sides, open the tailgate, unscrew the glass mounting, fix whatever caused it to go to off track, then remount the glass.
If you actually need to remove the glass for whatever reason, all weather stripping need to be removed first, and so you might want to get new ones, or at least clean the old ones. The exterior weather strip can get dirty very quickly.
Depending on what you need to do, my guesstimate would be 1 to 4 hours.

thanks, I'll give it a try. I'm hoping that the window isn't so far up that it gets hung up on the roof when I try to open the tailgate, but I can probably get it down about 1/8".
Since you will have both wiper strips removed you may want to inspect the torsion bar. Where the bar bends upward on the driver's side it should be attached to the inner skin of the tailgate and not touching the glass when the glass is down (when you get it working). A digital camera helps to get a better view inside.
