yes, still looking for a test drive of mid engine, I figured vw mid engine(not hanging off the back) or american front wheel drive welded on back of bike frame(not sure how much of engine is forward on transaxle)
I have found out how to turn the vw engine and trans around- reqires type 1 or 2 trans though. Haven't seen a 2 frontwheeler around here, and there seldom on the european trike sites. I personally prefer 1 front wheel.
I have a 93 SHO that got hit by a deer, one of my frinds here wants to turn it into a trike. He tells me that it is ez, just unbolt the sub frame and build a front end on the the sub frame rails and put on a set of forks. Sounds like fun, but I don't know if strapping 220+ HP on my but is a smart thing.
sho just unbolts? that makes it easy, all tauros unbolt?
how many other fords just unbolt?
220 horse does sound excessive for a bike, might not have when I was 20
Use a sho with the vulcan the v8 might be a bit much!! IF you got the time and tools
why not do what I posted a while back and make a V-twin ford powered motorcycle
lop two cylinders off a 351 or 302 and use that as your motor. Confederate customs
did it with a chevy 350 I think they sliced the front two cylinders off so they had the
timing set up and just used a harley tranny and primary drive. I would use a open
chain primary myself cause it just looks brutal!! Imagine having a all ford garage car,
truck, motorcycle, tractor may as well put a small 4cylinder in a jet ski or a boat!!
I wish someone would make the V-twin ford just to show those guys up, And no I am
not talking a bout the chevy powered Boss Hoss v8 stupidity!! I would line up to get
a blue oval on the gas tank of my chopper!! If you used a fuel injected motor you could use a megasquirt and program it to have like a soft start where even if you
twisted the trikes throttle to WFO it would only give it a set level of fuel, Of course
a set of trailing arms and some portal axle gear boxes and longer half shafts will get
the wheels out farther back behind the motor/tranny weight to give a better balance.
Of course a wheelie bar and if you kept the steering on the engine pod functional you
could steer (hydraulic or electric) while doing a bada$$ wheel stand!!!! I would pay to
see that a couple times during bike week. The Vw thing used trailing arm and portal
gear boxes but with the portals oriented for increased height, you would need to clock
them 90 degrees to get a bit more rearward orientation, But that would get rid of the
steering option.
350 cut down to 2 cylinders= 87.5 cid=1460cc
lot of work coverting 351 to 2 cyl, not that much free time on my hands, and boss wouldn't let me tie up his machines that long, I'm also not that energetic.
I'll force myself to the vw first
but for the fun of it- useing 351 firing order ( no ref handy) engine would make a what sound (in ref to harleys 45 degree firing order)

Yes, the sub frame does unbolt, I had to take out the sub frame to put in a new clutch. Ya, when I was 20, I might have done something like that, but I'm over 50 and I don't heal so fast anymore.
