dont really know how they came up with the diff in GVW rating, but I know the springs are the same. Maybe the rearend is diff. I havent checked that, might have diff bearing and such.

Exs are heavy 3/4 tons, 9200 gvw, a regular f-250 is rated at 8800 while my f-350 is at 9900.

Some of it definitely is related to springs, axles and such, but i would also think that ford sets limits so as to make money, think about it, your weight ratings don't legally increase if you add bigger springs after the factory, well all the auto company's set the limits because face it, they wouldn't sell f-350's or f-450's if everyone could just buy an f-250 and add heavier springs. we all know that we could run these things over what Ford rates them at especially when we upgrade the springs, but legally we can not, so while you already have the upgraded springs when you buy a 350 or 450 over the 250, you are basically also paying to be legal

When my dad got his 250 the whole reason he didnt go to a 350 is due to the fact that there is no mechanical difference. It is only the look of how the two sit. I didnt like the look of the f250 cc longbox so I went with the 350.

Then when you really look at the legal aspect, all the DOT is going to look at is the load ratings on your tires, and how much gvw is on your registration. But then again that is whole other can of worms to open.

There is some differences between an f-250 and an f-350 srw, the difference is that the f-350 has the overload springs standard, and the 250 only gets them with an upgraded suspension package, other then that the only real difference is the blocks, so not much mechanical difference at all

F350 springs are not the same as F250 springs. Bottlon line. Look at any F350 and look at an F250 see how much higher the F350 is. Guess what , "Springs" make that height difference. Not just the block or othersie the front end would not sit so high.

That's because the F250 has a 2" rear block & the F350 has a 4" block............................................. .

There are a bunch of different front springs depending on the options.
