Has anyone upgraded to a higher amp alternator in these older trucks? I had upgraded my '91 mustang to a Powermaster, but that was rather pricey.
I'm not sure when Ford started putting higher output alternators in their trucks--early 90s? This truck is an '88, so I really don't want another 60-amper or whatever the replacement would be.
i had a brand new 77 f150xlt and we took my battery out while it was running to put it in this persons dead truck (no jumper cables, in the middle of nowhere)
long story short, i ended up buying a new electronic ignition control module, for 125 bucks.
i would not disconnect the battery cable while it is running.
