What would keep the power for the radio, windows, etc. from working when the key is in the run or acc. position, even if the truck is running? The truck starts like normal but for a few seconds after it starts the accessories have no power. It doesn't happen very often but enough to start wondering.
I don't know if its the ignition switch or if there is a relay that might be sticking. I don't have a schematic to check if the accessories power is fed by a relay and if it is where its located.
had that same problem on a car we own! u could start fine but no radio or power windows! than i just turned the key just a little bit while the car was running and bang! the radio came on and the windows worked!replaced ignition switch and never had that problem again!just some FYI
I've tried wiggling the key and that doesn't help. I can switch it from Acc. to run and back to Acc. and still not have power to the windows or radio. I switch it back to run and then start the motor and then a few seconds later everything will work normal. It acts like a relay with a bad ground or dirty contacts. Is there one that powers the accessory circuit?
i would think thats and ignition switch problem!but there may be a relay i dont no,you need to give ppl on here a little info!what type of ride do u have?
Try moving the steering wheel and column to re-create the problem. Maybe even moving shifter back and forward. Several have had problems with wires under column cover chaffing and cause all sorts of problems.
I had a problem that the radio and turn signals wouldnt work when its cold with the engine running. It was the fuses not making good contact with the terminals in the fuse box of those curcuits. The fuses are small so I took some fine sand paper and cleaned the fuse terminals and reinstalled fuses and no problems since. You might check thoughs pesky fuses.
