A customer of mine ran his 1997 F250 7.3l out of dieselon the front tank. Switched to rear tank but could not start truck. He brought it to me and I was able to get it started but it runs rough and has very little power. There isn't any smoke but it is hard to start and runs this way warm or cold. Any thoughts? Thanks!!!!!!

I'm sure there are others more diagnostic than me, but I'd be inclined to check the fuel pressure at the pump and make sure you are getting pressure out (i think it has a schrader valve on the front side of the engine for this purpose). Might have sucked up some scum in the bottom of the tank and something, either the filter or some valve is plugged up. I'm sure others would ask whether it has enough oil in it too.
I replaced the Valve cover gaskets with dorman kits that include pigtail connectors for the harness. Ran a buzz test on the injectors all ok. The oil and filter have been changed because I put an A 1 Cardon reman turbo and pedestol per customer request ( some fins bent) . I won't get up enough power to even whine turbo except down hill with throttle wide open. It seems like low or restricted fuel pressure. I'll check for contamination. I wonder also if the oil high pressure pump could be the problem. And yes all my air and exhaust connections for the turbo are tight and right.
