I am searching for a compression tester in the greater chicago land, the Joliet/Shorewood/Plainfield areas would be best, and was wondering if anyone had one, or knew someone who did have one that would be willing to loan/rent or let someone come over to use it?
If not, do you know where I might rent one localy?
If not, do you know where I might buy one localy for a reasonable price?
they are just a normal compression tester thought the ones i have seen thread into the glow plug hole. so if u could find just about any cp gauge that reads a bit more than 400psi mabye 500pdi. then u would have to find the glow plug adapter. the one that i have used are normal automotive ones.but with a speacial kit for diesels. that thread into the enjectors on some motors and gps
If you get the harbor freight one be warned the adapter might not fit in the glowplug hole. I had to cut the adapter off right at the taper as it would go into the head because the bottom of the adapter was too wide. other than that it works great.
