OK I know alot of people have posted these kind of threads, and sorry if some people are tired of it. I have a 04 ranger 4.0 V6 and i am torn between AEM and Volant i honestly dont know which one I want...If anyone here has either of them on their ranger please inform me of how they perform I know they are both good but I want the best under my hood!!
I would go with either AEM or AFE. Volant is good, but it is still an oil based air filter. It is better than K&N, but MAF sensor contamination is still a real issue. The washable dry filter elements have better filtration capabilities, and are comparable on airflow. Easier to clean, better filtration and no risk of MAF contamination, its win, win, win.
I didn't know that volant made an intake for 04 4.0. Be carefull as the maff is built into the air box on your year ranger. I know that AEM just came out with thier 04 and up application. There for a while, K&N were the only ones that had an intake for the 04. I had K&N intake with an AEM dryflow filter on my 04.
