I have a 2005 Explorer XLT Sport with leather seats. Over the past 6 months both the drivers and passanger front seats have started to show cracks on the leather on the lower seat cushion. The leather has been maintained as per Ford specs with Ford products. I have never had this problem before, especially on a 2.5 year old vehicle. Anyone else have this issue and would Ford cover it under warrenty?
You are still in the 3yr window - don't know your mileage though - so it might be hit and miss as to whether the warranty would cover it.
I had Ford replace my leather steering wheel cover on my Explorer 2 years after buying it because it cracked and rubbed so bad. It would be worth a shot to me to try and get the dealer to replace.
And I would switch to a different cleaner... Something like Mequiar's Leather Cleaner or another quality brand.
Went to dealer. Seats covered by Warrenty, dealer is ordering and will schedule day to come in once new covers arrive. When I asked if this normal, recieved answer "this sometimes happens". Yet there is a TSB out on the Leather seats cracking. Anyone else have issues with the leather seats?
I just bought a used 02 with 73,000 miles on it. The seats are starting to get those deep creases and soon will become cracks. I want to preserve what I have, anyone had any suggestions.
I use Mequiars leather products and also Fullers. Fullers is more of a home use product, but they have a cleaner/preserver that is great. I'v been using it on my 97 Explorer seats since I bought it and have not had the first tear or hardening. I would suggest those.
