I'm a new person to this site. I just found it today while doing a search for f150world.com, a site I used to be on when I owned my 1996 F-150. I am in the process of setting up a shipment of one (1) two-tone red and white 1966 F-250 2wd with a 352 from my uncle's house in Minnesota to here, Spokane Valley, WA. Due to the season, it looks like it will be best to ship in the spring.
Anyways, I am what you would call a lurker, one who comes onto a site, reads a bunch, and does'nt post very much. I plan on lurking and learning as much as possible up until the truck is shipped to me. I am looking forward to getting back into the Ford Truck scene, as I have been in the IH and Honda scene for a couple years now.
My plans for the '66 is to restore it (not an award winning show truck) and use it for a classy tow rig. I'll probably replace the 352 with a 390, or with some work, a 351w.
In my sole personal opinion, I wouldn't make that '66 into a truck for towing. It's an antique vehicle which shouldn't be used for "work". I'd go buy a junk truck for $300 or whatever to tow stuff around. However, don't get me wrong, your '66 sure as hell could tow with little trouble!
But, whatever you choose, you'll come to love that truck!!

Gustav129; Welcome to FTE; I'm sure by spring you will be well decided on your newly recieved Slick. You have found probably the best resource for Ford trucks and I'm sure you'll find all types of opinion's and discussion on useage of your truck. Keep us informed on your progress with your truck; I believe as you stated once in your hands you'll no longer be a lurking sponge but a great asset to this site.
Again Welcome.
Welcome aboard Russ.
You'll find a host of info on these trucks in both stock and modified form.
I'd suggest you do with your truck what you want, but be smart about it.
Before engine and trans plans, I'd suggest you upgrade brakes to front disk and a dual master cylinder (they don't have to power, but it would make it less seat puckering)
Good Luck!

I've seen the kits for the 2wd F-100's, is there a kit for the 2wd F-250?
Not having power anything doesn't bother me too much. The only thing I have that has power steering or power brakes is my '74 IH Scout II.
I do plan on doing some modern style upgrades, but to keep the spirit of the original truck.
-7" clear HID style lights
-Sliding rear window
-Tonneau cover
-Aluminum Modular rims
-AM/FM Cassette Stereo (I saw them for 68+, but I hope it might find one for the 66 dash, and they come with CD disk changer)
-Seatbelts (perhaps a set of shoulder straps, at least lap belts)
Welcome to as has been said prior, the best place on the net for info and much more for Ford trucks...Ive got a 65 3/4 ton that can better 60...not much more though...its nice to have another fella from the NW on here.

If you are interested in a tonneau cover for your truck, you might want to check out the Truxedo Lo Pro QT. Although we don't currently make a cover for that model, we do custom build covers for classic trucks. You can check in out on our Classic Truck Gallery: http://www.truxedo.com/maingallery/gallery.html
Gustav129! Welcome to FTE! I recently converted a F250 frame to install under a 66 F100. I have all the F250 disk brake parts and I beams and a hub to hub rear. Free if you take care of shipping. I am in St. George Utah. PM me if you want this stuff.
Welcome to the forum! I've used my 66 with the stock brakes to pull a 18' trailer. Sometimes I think the trailer brakes are stopping the truck. Therefore, I am gathering parts to convert to power disks this winter. My truck pulled the trailer fine with the 352 in it. then a friend offered me a deal on a 428 builder.... No problem pulling the trailer, stopping can be a challenge.
