Sway bars

I want to put sway bars on both ends of my 70 F250 4x4. I found this one for the rear

Rear sway bar

Does anybody have any suggestions for a front bar for a 4x4?

I think this style would work but pricey

Does anybody know of one off another truck (or another brand) that can be made to work?

What about building my own?

There would need to be something off of a late model truck but with the highboys narrow frame?

You trying to corner like a vette? LOL

I find my crew is pretty stable for mild turns and lane changes. Suspension is real taught due to the mileage on the truck.

Nah I just don't like the white knuckles when I tow a trailer. I think I may be getting some bump steer so I'm converting to crossover steering (hopefully this fixes it). I just want to get all my modifications done before I paint my frame.

Besides, all the new trucks have them so why not this old one?

LOL

How about one from a Modern F250, and fabricate brackets to the width of the bar?

Jay, Can you further describe your white knuckle experience? What is happening? What are you towing? What speed is this happening? What kind of trailer?

Sway bars are nice, but towing alone shouldn't cause this.

Sounds like more an issue with trailer(like John is asking). What kind of hitch, what height? Tonge weight? sway control? What size trailer?

Bumper pull 16x8 snowmobile trailer with 3 sleds ~4000lbs

Same with construction material ~4000lbs

U-haul tandem with a fullsize car ~5000lbs

No sway control

My partner pulls the same trailer with basically the same loads with a 98 ford f150 with far less drama

Even empty with no trailer it just seems to dart around way more than I like

Seems like it will just move over by 6" on its own sometimes

Unnerving on good roads, white knuckle on poor roads

All the steering is tight

I don't have any control with my truck, and my thoughts are that no 4-5000lb. tow should affect the truck at all.

Sounds like problems with the truck. Are the tires fully inflated? Are they worn out?

I'd really like us to help you resolve this issue. That's a real bummer.

Tires are good, Goodyear Wrangler (ATS) 285/75r16, with the u haul I stopped at a gas station and pumped them up to 65 PSI I think. Higher pressure didn't seem to help

Heavier trailers seem to calm things down a bit

The previous owner removed the crossmember at the rear shackle on the front springs to clear the PTO winch. Could this be the root of all my problems??

The truck also has 4" Softride springs all the way around. It wasn't any different on stock springs though...

I appreciate the input!

Hey,

Did you ever resolve either the "white knuckles" or the swaybar? I'm interested in both.

Found the page on LMC - thanks for the heads up. Why is the rear bar only for 2 wheel drive for our trucks? What's the difference in the rear between a 2 wheel drive and 4 wheel drive truck?
