'89 Radio help

So I installed a ford 2 channel tape deck out of an '89 F-250 into my samurai, I got it hooked up yellow to keyed on, green to continuous power, and blue to ground, and it worked great, but the display was real dim (like when the headlights are on) so I had an orange and a red wire left. I assumed that one of these wires went to a power wire, and would brighten the lcd, but when I touched the orange to a power source I heard a pop, and now nothing works.

so, is the unit toast? or is there a circuit breaker or fuse somwhere?
