Kill Switch Installation

I have a 1964 PU and need to install a simple "Kill Switch"...I had one in my old "54 Ford but it has been a long time and I am not quite sure what the steps are.

Wall switch wired into the ignition. Screwed under dash.

WORKS GREAT. Flick it up, turn the key to start, and you're running. When you want to stop, just flick it off.

You are an absolute genius. I would never have thought to do that.

Huge photo to boot too.

Welcome to (FTE)!

When I have wired a kill switch in the past, I tapped in to the power wire that
runs to the coil wire.

Works well for me, just my 2 cents!

I used a small switch and wired a spdt relay off the ignition switch wire. Its easy to install and hide.

Wow, that wall switch looks pretty hokie, yet very simple. I didn't even see it at first. That's almost as bad as a tupperware container used as a fuse panel box I saw in a Scout once.

This is not the kind of information we need to be sharing. It is not the proper method of doing automotive electrical and poses a risk of an electrical fire.
I would suggest using a device intented for the purpose rather than the provided picture.
The following link provide appropriate devices

Universal Ignition Switches

Please don't suggest things like this in the future. That's what the Chebby sites are for!

What are you trying to accomplish with the kill switch?? If you are just trying to make it harder to start and easy to hide a simple togle switch on the ignition feed wire works great.

the house hold switch is not going to cause a fire. it is not something I would ever use unless I was stuck in the middle of nowhere and could not find anything else to get me home but it sure beats the heck out of No switch which could pose a fire problem.
