Hey yall,
Names Cord. New around here but I'm a big time car, truck, bike, aything with wheels nut. I recently got myself a new toy, 97 F350 Crew. LOVIN' IT! Plans include WVO conversion(on order), then maybe a DP and muffler delete. DP Tuner seems to be popular around here, Jody is spoken highly of. Rig is my daily drive/tow vehicle, when the weather is bad, otherwise, I'm on my Buell. We are shopping for a toy hauler.
Welcome. I have the same truck. You will love it. It is very easy to work on and you can find out everything you need to know right here. Get rid of the stock downpipe and cat and get a nice, open round one and cat-delete pipe. Buy a spare cam position sensor and keep it in your glove box with a 10mm wrench. Keep your oil clean(3,000-4,000 miles), change your air filter to a 6637 and test your coolant to make sure it has diesel coolant additive in it, or better yet, drain system, add a new coolant filter and refill with the 600,000 mile diesel coolant.
I echo f350 hauler, and also say begin taking oil samples now, send them to blackstone labs, number one you will know when you need to change your oil, and number two it is good to know the health of your truck. Also I run a bypass oil filter system and love it, so I would consider that in the futur mods. There is a guy who runs a fleet of New body Style (NBS vs OBS) 7.3, he has several with over 800,000, and one with 1,175,000 miles on them with only minor maintenance.
Goor advice already given. I would do that Napa 6637 filter right away. It will stop any dirt from getting into your engine. I would also change all the fluids, engine oil, trans, diffs, coolant, Powersteering and brake fluid.
Performance wise that down pipe is the first to go. Then look into some gauges to keep your eye on boost, trans temp and exhaust temps. Then your looking at a chip. Also a good thing to start with is some sort of shift kit or valve body for your tranny. Sonnax makes a decent cheap kit ($50), transgo also make some good stuff, as well at a BTS valve body or Factory tech Valve body.
We need another list for things like.
IIRC, PITA, ect. Things outside the auto world.
FTE?
Bill
I agree!
Included in the list should be Llib, Kcir, Sggebjt!
Or we could always get FTE to use the same options as PSN and they will be highlighted and explained!! I am going to post that suggestion in the suggestions forum!

Ok code. I will settle for what PSN has. I posted in the suggestions forum but since I put a link to PSN for example it went to moderator land so we'll see if it ever hit the board! I hate that!
