I smell what your steppin in, but this is a 94, and an AODE, or the 4r70w. Couldn't tell ya the difference between either one. AODE-PSK shift kit works for both. Didn't think of ebay. I will try there. I hate it though, that much I know, lol.

I have ordered the kit for mine at Summit. I just thought of another question. Does this make it more likly to leek? Does it in crease the pressure to the lines going to the cooler?

I have another problem. Every once an awhile my tranny will down shift and up shift several times in row when I'm holding the pedal still. (aprox 35 MPH) It usally does this when hot. (both the truck and outside temp) do you think this kit would help or agravate this?

Hate to burst the transgo bubble... albeit it's in my truck.

The factory tech valve body replacement is a much wiser investment for the e4od/4r100, and a better all around product. I found this out installing it in my friend's 1995 f250.

Installation is quite a bit easier than the transgo shift kit. Also... there weren't extra springs, ***** etc. that came with the kit NOT to be installed (i.e. TransGo). Shift points were firm yet smooth, and tranny temperature dropped 30-50* from this change alone. The 2-3 shift was much improved over the transgo kit.

If I had to do it all over again, I'd go with the factory tech valve body.

Here's a link to the product:

It's been discussed here... mainly for the lightnings and HD 4r100/e4od apps.

You get what you pay for!

The valve body is much more robust (and less moving parts) than the transgo. Plan on a messy job regardless, but the valve body replacement is an excellent choice.

Well worth the $100 more! Especially when rebuilds cost upwards of $2500...

The transgo kit has worked fine, but not nearly the shift quality of this product.

I have run the B&M kit, but installed the FTVB, great product, well worth the $$$ and much better tranny feel than a shift kit. I would recommend the FTVB all day, many Gen1 Lightnings are running them with no problems, I am not talking stock trucks either. I have seen 12,11,10 and 9 second trucks running the FTVB. My .02.

how does it perform in towing and offroad applications. running in a lightning is a bit different application in a sense. I also agree you get what you pay for.

Works great for my buddies f250 towing a fifth wheel. I've heard nothing but praise for the FTVB.

Surpisingly I'd thing your 94 Bronco would have an E4OD but if not you'll have the AODE same as mine...I don't think they started to put in 4R70W in until 96/97.....it's just an updated version of the AODE from what I hear anyways....Later

Baumann

I put a Baumann shift kit in my 5.8/E4OD somewhere around 40K. I now have 140K and it is still good. I did not set for the neck-snapper shifts, went moderate on all shifts. A little more involved that the AOD's and is messy. Also a great time to put a drain plug in the pan. Be sure to weld the inside nut to the pan---you will regret it if you dont. Also, dont put the plug on the bottom of the little bump. I put the plug in the SIDE on the bottom bump.

Had to replace the OEM tq conv at ~120K (replaced with E350 ambulance---dacco/luk). Actually a little too much stall for me, mostly street driving with some towing. I have used transgo on AOD applications, seems O.K.

I am wondering if the hunting at ~35 MPH is the tq conv locking and unlocking. That may be the lockup strategy speed on it. My conv will lock at max 45 MPH regardless how far my foot is below the floorboard----! Really a PIA when towing a heavy load, trying to accelerate out of a toll booth or a merge ramp. The loss of ratio at a relative low rpm is bad. I believe it should lockup just off-idle from a light (for most economy) or after going into 3rd when manifold vacumn goes back high.

I dont really recall what the unloaded lockup speed is. Soon as I get rid of some of these alligators nipping at my hindquarters, I am going to put the toggle sw in the lockup solenoid path for some control, already know what wires and such---just dont know WHEN!

Check the Baumann site, has some good info. I havnt really heard anything bad about them--worked for me!

E4od

I think 90 may have been the first year for the E4OD. Before that it was a C6. I dont think they ever put the AODE or 4R70W behind a 351, could be wrong on that----especially if someone has one!!

I personally like the E4OD. I put the low ratio gear set in a C6 once that was from the E4OD, worked well. I would put a mild shift kit in it and put a Tq conq with LUK clutches in it. Depending on your useage, it may not be necessary to get a high bux converter. Since I did my Baumann shift kit years ago, there may be better options. Sonnex makes numerous improvement small parts and also Ford may offer a better valve body for better (firmer) shifts.

I have an E4OD apart in my "shed" and have numerous upgrade parts. First thing next Monday I am going to finish it----if not then, the Monday after that----if not then, the next Monday---------
