tailgate guts compatability
Hi all a buddy of mine says all the mecanical guts are the same in a 78 -96 tailgate.Latches ,rods.etc.... is this true or are 78+9's totaly different from 80's and 90's guts wise Thanks

Not totally different in that the operation and mechanicals are basically identical. However, the dimensions of the gates ARE different and therfore its highly UNLIKELY that all of the components are completely interchangable. Check out this Forum Sponsor . If they list different part numbers for the 78-79's then its a good bet the parts are not interchangable.
