axle codes

I did a search and can't find the info I am looking for. Mydoor sticker says that i have axle code 26. My window sticker says that I have a 3.73 regular axle. Just wanted to make sure this is correct as I am trying to get my speedo correct. Thanks for any help

27 — 3.31 non-limited slip (F-250)
26 — 3.73 non-limited slip (F-250)

I don't know why you'd have that on a F150.......
Check the rear axle bolt cover there will be a metal tag on the passengers side.
The numbers closest to the bolt holding the tag on will be your gear ratio. So if it shows 3L73, then you have 3.73 gears w/ limited slip.

These are the codes for F150s:
19 — 3.55 non-limited slip (F-150, Econoline)
17 — 3.31 non-limited slip (F150, Econoline)
H9 — 3.55 limited slip (F-150, F-250)
B6 — 3.73 limited slip (F-150, F-250)

The '07s must go by the F-250 codes, because I have a 3.31 in my V6 5-speed F-150, and the axle code is 27.

Thanks for the info. The truck is a 2004 F150. I checked the meta tag on the passanger side. Some numbers were hidden by the bolt head I guess. The tag read

V956F
73 75 3J23

On the driver side, the tag said

EHP OIL ONLY
Y75W900FEHP

thanks again

First number shows you have 3.73 gears. Yes the bolt does block a little, but if you could tell if there is a . or L right before the 73, then that'd tell you if you have limited slip or not. The L stands for LS, and the . means open.

According to your door code it is open.

I didn't know they offered 3.73 open differentials...... Then too I haven't been looking into much since 04.

Bottom numbers- use 75w90 gear oil.

Edit: Wow 5,000 post! I'm supprised ya'll didn't tell me to shut up yet.
