another oem manual hub problem

another oem manual hub problem
99 F-250 SD. OEM hubs unlocked but ujoints locked in position. Want upgrade to Warn hubs but heard that there may be an ugly gap between hub and wheel trim cap. I have factory aluminum wheels. Any suggestions?

??? Don't understand reference to u-joints.
Manual or auto hubs?
Have you checked wheel rotation against axle shaft rotation with wheel off the ground?

Sorry, meant axle shafts are locked in no matter what position hubs are in. I have a manual set up.

You not only need to unlock the hubs but shift into 2wd.

You need to pull the hubs apart to see why they are not releasing. You may have other problems besides needing to replace the hubs.
ALso, from what I undertand, Mile Marker hubs have the gap. Warn hubs do not.

I am in 2wd but hubs did not appaer to be working. Planning on swapping them out for Warn hubs. I've never had good luck with ford hubs. I've always ended up replacing them with Warn's. Atleast I don't have ESOF to contend with.

Warns are cheaper then the Ford hubs too.

just yank those hubs out and put the warns in,,,a real fast job. grease up the new ones. tose hubs dont always disingage until you drive a little bt.
